I wonder if the 2018 will handle as much boost on 93 octane as the previous engines since it has a higher compression ratio. I am at 12.5 psi on my 2016 with a Procharger.

I think so because direct injection allows for much higher cylinder pressures on limited octane. Consider also that whipple is running 12-13 psi on the 10.5/1 truck 5.0, 11 psi on the 11/1 car 5.0, and 9 psi on the 12/1 car 5.2. Add direct injection and you can run more than 9 psi on 12/1.

Plus whipple has already posted dyno graphs of it making 650 rwhp and 580 ftlb.

Yeah, I figured that even if the boost has to be a little lower that it has the CR and Direct Injection going for it.

While 400whp is cool, these runs were on different fuel, different day, and the stock run was cut short by not using the full rpm range, it appears to be still climbing. Back to back on the same day would be much more telling than a unicorn dyno run.

That said, they run well, but not unexpectedly fast, much of the credit there is the high average wheel horsepower.

Yea the 18 Mustang 5.0 10 speeds are setting the net on fire. LMR got theirs down to 11.88 with DR's, suspension work, no resonators 3.55's too.
