2017 Lariat SCrew Build Thread (Procharger 5.0)
I ordered my 2017 F150 Lariat in April 2017. I looked around inventory for a while, but after buying my 2004 F150 off of a lot in early 2004, there were always features and buttons I wish I had. I decided to order exactly what I wanted and not settle. It was a tough decision to delay some of the excitement of getting a new truck, but it ended up only taking about 5 weeks. Here is a brief summary of my order:
2017 F150 4x4 Screw 145”
5.0 w/ 3.55 e-lock
Oxford White, Black Interior
Lariat 502A w/ Sport Pkg
FX4 Pkg
Tow Pkg
36 gal tank
Technology Pkg
Moonroof
Tailgate Step
Trailer Brake Controller
Early on (before finalizing my factory order) I decided that I wanted to get the 5.0 and install a supercharger ASAP. After the order was pushed, I started looking into blower options. I decided on a Procharger Stage 2 kit for several reasons, though I did consider Whipple for a long time.
I received my truck in late May 2017. It’s August now when I am finally getting around to starting this thread, so I will be doing a lot of updating of what has occurred in the past 2.5 months to get us up to present day. (Spoiler: the Procharger is now installed.) Thanks for your patience as I get photos and updates posted.
Day (-) 1: I got word that the truck had been delivered, so I went to see it on the lot and scheduled delivery for the next afternoon:
Day 1: At home in the garage:
My very first mod was Morimoto LED foglights to match the factory LEDs:
Week 2: Tires are here:
I went with Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/60R20, which is about a 34” tire. This kicked off a lot of planning for future modifications in order to get the driveline back to “normal” mechanically with a significantly larger/heavier tire.
And wheels (stock photo):
I went with Method Roosts in 20x9 +0

Before getting the tires and wheels on, I needed some room in the front, which meant a lift or level. I strongly considered a 4” lift, but eventually settled on Icon coilovers. To me this was a best case scenario for a modest 2” level while maintaining decent ride quality. My 2004 had strut spacers and I did not want to do that again. I got the Icon Stage 1 kit, 2.5” shocks/coilovers in front and 2.0 shocks in the rear. I also bought some 2" blocks for the rear, but have not used them to date as I like how the truck sits as is.
Note to address later: Something is going on with the rear of the truck. There is all sorts of clunking going on when hitting small bumps at low speed. My first guess is something with the Icon rear shocks, but I need to swap the stock ones back on to see. More on this later.
Coils:
Week 2: Tearing into the truck for the first time
Done
Wheels are on (better photos later):

Week 7: The Procharger P-1X is here!
Attachment 568521
I started making plans and gathering items for the supercharger installation, but one thing I needed to do first was address the final drive ratio. The 34” E-rated tires, even with a fairly light Method wheel, put probably 45-50 extra pounds of rotating mass at each corner; they also lowered my equivalent gear ratio to about a 3.31. Combine those facts and something needed to be done. I ended up having a shop in my area install a FRPP 4.09 gear set in the rear Super 8.8 and a 4.10 set in the front 8.8. With the larger tires this gives me an equivalent “stock” rear end ratio of about 3.73.
All better! (sorry no photos of the gear install)

Check out that intercooler hiding in there
We are still getting the tuning worked out after the blower install. It’s running good, but still some kinks like the trans wants to shift at 6000 regardless of what we tell it in the tune. I think we figured it out, but won’t know until it’s flashed again in the next couple of days.
Just a few more updates will get us to present day. Stay tuned…
