2010 5.4l 1/4 mile times and how to make it faster

I'm looking at a 2010 5.4l scab 4x4 for sale and wondering how they do stock in a 1/4 mile. Not trying to build a race truck but I'm looking for something that can move and be functional for when I need to use it(don't tow). Also how does the 2010 5.4ls compare to the 11-14 5.0s? And what are the most effective mods for some power other than the obvious supercharger+tune.

Man, honestly the 2011 5.0 is light years ahead of the 5.4 in performance. I'd save my lunch money a while longer and get a 2011.

Well, the 11-14 5.0 is like space age technology compared to the 5.4. It's not a good comparison unfortunately :(

I know the 5.0 is a lot better than the old 5.4l, but if I can save $5k would it be worth it? A 5.0 would leave me broke but if I go with the much cheaper 5.4l I have some money to work with. In my area a 2011 5.0 xlt at ~100k goes for about $16-20k. A near equal 5.4l 2010 is about $11k.

I have a 5.4 in my Raptor and live at 8000 feet above sea level with regular trips over 10-11,000. I find the truck has plenty of power to pull the hills even with a trailer. It passes cars on the two lanes when asked to, with a great roar! Supercharge it or twin turbo and it will be a beast. You should be able to do forced induction for close to your savings over buying the 5.0. Whos is faster now?

Looks like the stock 2010 5.4 did about 225 rwhp stock and 390 supercharged. The 2011 5.0 did about 300 rwhp, 2015 did about 330 rwhp, and 2018 about 350 rwhp stock. Supercharged, the 2011 did about 520 rwhp, 2015 did 590 rwhp, and 2018 doing 650 rwhp. Technology has advanced a lot.

Utterly missed the point.... Maybe if you are picking up the additional $5000 tab for this young man your comparison makes sense. The real comparison is the SC 5.4 vs the NA 5.0 and I see you have conceded that one. lol

Yes, you did miss the point. Post #1 said "other than supercharging" and your big solution was to supercharge it.

I'm not sure what you think I conceded...we didn't get into reliability or resale implications of each. Yes, an otherwise stock supercharged 3v 5.4 will make more power than a stock 2011 5.0. Anyone who says different is ignorant or delusional. But you could make the same argument that a 2v 4.6 when supercharged will make more power than a stock 5.4 3v....and save even more money. And so on with the pushrod 5.0, and save even more. Etc.

The real comparison here is a bolt-on 5.4 3v vs the 2011 5.0 as stated by the OP. The 5.4 has a 75 rwhp deficit and every bolt-on in the book combined won't make that up.

If your gonna use it as a truck the 5.4 3v is fine. If you wanna make power get the 5.0 tons more aftermarket support for the 5.0.

The 5.0 makes more power, probably gets better mpg, too. If you can swing the difference, I would.
