Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone can point me to any documented reliability concerns with tuning the 2.7 ecoboost? I'm considering a 5 star tune, 87 or 93 performace tune if it matters:

Go to Stage3 Motorsports. They offer a warranty for a couple hundred bucks more if you buy the tuner and 5* tunes from them. That's what I did.

Good luck getting stage3 to honor that warranty or anything else they sell. That Company is complete ****.

I have never even used them before can you elaborate? Tory at unleashed was my go to guy for eco boost.

5 Star will honor the warranty, they've only had a handful of people who have had to use the warranty and they all were taken care of. But Stage 3 does suck *** about returning calls/emails/questions.
That's not the case for 5 Star though, not my experience at least, in the past 6 years I've been dealing with them.

Out of curiosity has any one put a canned tune say from example SCT BDX up against a custom tune 5*, MPT etc. to see the difference in numbers, is it dramatically different or just a few ponies?

I've been hearing that the new canned SCT tunes are actually pretty good. I have not tried them myself. BoostKing over on f150ecoboost.net is the tuner for SCT and does a great job.

I have a 2.7 with 5star tuning (i run the 93 Perf/tow tune) and it's simply awesome. 5 star has great customer service as well. Very happy with how my truck drives.
