So I asked the guys at AFE for an explanation of how this thing works and this was their reply "The module works by sending altered signals from the pressure sensors to the ECU to create more boost. The truck still uses its o2 sensors, knock sensors, etc. to regulate fuel trims and timing. We have them on our EcoBoost trucks here at aFe and have many customers using them and I am yet to hear of any major issues short or long term."

Hello

I recently moved to Colorado and I'm considering either the 2.7 or the 3.5 (both appeal to me for different reasons). Once I figure out which, I'm going to order the JB4 from www.burgertuning.com
They just posted a 2.7 dyno graph that made 514 lb/ft at the wheels!
I know of them from the BMW world, but have no affiliation with them. Just that they have a great reputation on the BMW side.

Might be worth checking out?
I will do a write up once I get mine installed.

Wow that's really impressive. Had I not gotten mine for free I might be interested in this unit. I'd like to see long-term testing done with that much of a drastic hp increase. Are you going to get one by chance? I'd like to learn more about it.

Im really scratching my head whether I can make the 2.7 work. i really want the 3.73 gears and they are not abailable on the 3.5 unless you get the 6.5 bed and heavy duty payload.

I would rather have the 5.5 bed for better off road manouvering and with the 2.7 I can either get the 3.73 with a payload package stripped or regular 3.73 and more options.

Im thinking of going this route so yeah, Im pretty sure Ill gonthat route.

My only experience with his stuff is driving a friends 335i that made stupid power and the engine stayed together, so Im sure theyve done their research.
BMW crowd is hard to please so I think Ill give it a chance.

Id like to put it on a dyno with crappy fuel and see if it has any knock.

Other guys to check out are www.fullrace.com they do a lot of stuff for the 3.5 and I know their stuff is real good.

I think I would get an intercooler also.

IDK.
That baseline dyno looks way high, which would lead me to believe the dyno #'s after that mod are way high too.

These guys got 388 at the wheels with just an air filter https://www.drivingline.com/articles...urbo-d-27l-v6/

An air filter and a custom tune? This shouldn't be surprising almost any of the custum tunes make the same gains

I thought this thread was about the AFE scorcher? Which is very different than a custum tune.

That's right in line torque #'s to the wheels that I have seen, but Burger Motorsport's dyno is showing 441 ft. lbs stock.

They're also showing 346 HP to the wheels. Which is 30-40hp higher than any stock '18 2.7l that I've seen. You might get 320 to the wheels using 93.

Impressive stock numbers with the 2.7L! Gain of 21HP and 41TQ switching from regular to premium fuel.

Where do you see that?

I knew there was a gain, but didn't know it was that much.
