I cannibalized mirrors because I converted from non power to power folding and I broke one of my mirrors. Long story short I have internal parts, turn signals, puddle lights and If you're wanting to fix your mirror but not replace the whole thing send me a reasonable offer and I'll send it to you. Just can't bring myself to throw this stuff away!
Just curious because I'm planning on swapping my current mirror housings over to some power fold ones like you did... How was swapping the internals over? And what part did you end up breaking? Couldn't find much info on doing this. Seemed pretty straightforward but I just thought I'd ask.

Sorry just now replying. Didn't have time for a thoughtful reply!
Swapping the internals is simple. I broke the frame inside and the back half, the bezel around the glass mirror, the part facing the rear of the truck. It ironically broke when backing up. I was so focused on not side swiping the truck on a tree I wasn't focused on the fact that my mirror was about to be taken out lol. I was inches away from the tree in a driveway with a car to my right and I didn't want to hit the car so I got a little too close to the tree and crunch! I was looking right at the damn tree and still hit it with my mirror 🤣
Fortunately the back half of the shell didn't break on mine so I ordered a mirror with the blind spot mirror on eBay with a color mismatched shell really cheap and to my surprise it was a power fold mirror. I thought power fold was only an option with blis. Probably why I got it so cheap. That got me to thinking about the power fold swap. So I bought the passenger power fold mirror and proceeded to do the swap.
So I swapped my parts to the power fold frame, upgraded the door modules, added the missing wires, replaced the door switch and programmed it.
My truck is a 2018 with the temp sensor on the passenger mirror, the one I bought was a pre 18, so I swapped the front half of the mirror shell to the power fold one I bought. Had to move some wires and connector for the temp sensor over to the power fold harness. I also have spot light turn signals, had to move the wire over for that too.
All in all not hard at all. The hardest thing is removing the mirror cap from the shell if you have to and repinning the connectors. It's almost impossible to remove the mirror cap without breaking the clips, but doable.
FYI for anyone looking. The parts in the pic are all in perfect condition. The frame is for the passenger side manual fold. The turn signals are without the spot light option. The shell pieces are pre 2018, so no temp sensor cutout. It may be hard to see but there are 2 OEM puddle lights too. Interesting these only have 1 led as opposed to mine which have 2 LEDs and one of the electrical contacts is 90° from mine.
Odd thing about the driver side mirror glass, this may be a hard option to find. It's not a blis mirror but lacks the blind spot. It is defrost, but the left side is slightly convex. It confused me when I bought it, but if you need one I have it.
Likely I'll have these parts forever because I'm a parts hoarder, so if you come across this post 10 years from now and I'm not dead shoot me a PM, which I cleared out! I'll keep the posting up to date if possible!
How hard is to take apart the mirror housing? I broke my passenger mirror same way you did and am looking at replacing it or just the plastic pieces in the housing that broke, puddle lights, camera, blinker, BLIS all are working, the housing beneath the chrome cover has cracked, and the mirror glass where it connects to the adjustment motor is broken.
It's easy, once you pop the glass off, there is a channel in one corner under the glass where you can stick a long flat head screwdriver and twist/pry it off. Then torx screws hold it together, then the front separates from the back and they just pull off.
The mirror cap, either painted or chrome as long as you don't need to remove it isn't a factor, it just stays on.
