Default Wrong viscocity diff oil used

Took my 21 Screw to the dealer yesterday for a 4wd service to change out the diffs and transfer case.
When checking in the advisor said that the parts were in for the axle recall so I said yes, do it.
Looking at the invoice this morning I see one qt. of 75w85 for the recall and 6 qts of 75w140 for the service.
Advisor says that the qt. of 85 is part of the recall package and that they have to show that as they get audited on the recalls.
What they actually use is Royal Purple 75w140 for diffs. He says it's better, wider range, yadda yadda yadda.
I'm not convinced.
What if there is a warranty issue down the road.
140 is way out of spec.
Should I insist on a swap to 85?

If the dealer is doing it, I wouldn't sweat it.

get a copy of the warranty for the new/recalled parts. what does fine print say?

just curious, did you have problem with original axle? was there a expiration for getting the new axel (recall) installed?

I have a Ford extended warranty to 125K so it would be covered under that.

This is what the Ford owners manual says,

"If you do not use fluid that meets the defined specification and viscosity grade, it could result in:
  • Component damage that your vehicle warranty does not cover.
  • Reduced vehicle performance."
That's why I'm asking.
I specifically asked the advisor about warranty with the 140. When he said that's what they use, I said as long as you stand behind it. My concern is what Ford would say if there is an issue.

There is no deadline on the recall as far as I know and I did not have any problems with the original axle.
I wanted to get the fluids changed out as am taking many trips this summer and I am one of those that over maintains my vehicles.

It's at 60K miles.

Thanks for.your reply.
