Default Wrench light goes on, idle drops, no power

I have a problem with my 2006 F 150, FX4 with 5.4 V8. In the fall and winter when the morning is. Under 40 on my ride to work my engine will surge and then go into a safety mode where I have no throttle response or control. It happens in approximately the same place every time, about 15 minutes into my commute. I am usually slowing down to stop, not necessarily braking, but not accelerating. The engine RPM will drop to 500/60, and the wrench light comes on. I pull to the side of the road and shut the truck off wait about 30/seconds and it restarts and I can finish my trip to work.
It only happens when it's cold, under 40 in the morning , not at night. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Captain Jim

Default No DTC

Unfortunately I have a Trans Fault code that doesn't allow me to see any other codes. I have tried to see if any other fault code shows up by putting a reader on it but only the transmission sensor shows up. The wrench problem only happens intermittently in cooler weather.
Are we talking replacing the throttle body or something in the throttle body?
Thank you!

Fix the trans fault first
