True, Also in my opinion the frequency of oil changes not only depends on driving style (ie. normal v/s heavy stop-n-go but also on the quality of oil filter used.

Took my truck to a stop-n-lube place they used traditional oil and in less than 3k my oil was black. All I do is normal driving nothing extreme. I think they must have used a poor oil filter. Oil will be dark but it shouldn't be completely black in less than 3k

This time I changed it myself using MC 5-20W synth blend and a Fram tough guard which is supposed to filter ...

  • Uses a higher level of synthetic media to give 6X MORE engine protection than the average of leading economy oil filters
  • Unsurpassed 99% Dirt Trapping Efficiency
  • Screen-over bypass valve provides a second layer of protection against larger dirt particles
  • Silicone anti-drainback valve holds a reserve of oil in the filter to help protect the engine during cold start-ups

K, I'll play...

94' F150 5.0L Every 3,000 or less, depends how often I go to the track (if I go to the track 2 weekends in a row, I may only have a couple hundred miles on it but, runnin' at 5,000 rpm under WOT KILLS oil) use Royal Purple 10w-30 w/Lucas Oil Stabilizer and K&N filter

09' Escape 2.5L - Every 5,000 miles. Use Royal Purple 5w-20 w/Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer and K&N filter
