If you want to confirm the axle seal leak, pull the plug on the differential and stick your pinky finger in the hole.If you don't bring it back with gear oil on it, because it's low, it's the seal leaking. You almost surely have a bearing failure as well. I would not drive it another mile or you'll be looking at a complete rearend repair. You should at least plan on changing bearings, seals and brakes on BOTH sides. Good luck. BTW gear oil has a very heavy sulfur smell.

Took the truck into the shop and they just called to update me. Definitely replacing the bearings and seals and they said the shaft looks undamaged. They informed me the estimate is gonna be more though cause I have a bigger rear axle then they thought. Turns out I have a 10.25 rear axle.
What should I know about this? Definitely a lot of upgrades done before I bought this truck 2 yrs ago but this one I didn't know about. Also I have a programmer so do you think the gear ratio isn't the same as tagged on the door which is the 3.73?
