Uneven Rotor Wear? Cause identified
2016 with 7k easy miles noticed left front rotor wear different than other three rotors. Left front had groves detectable to touch while others were like new? Dropped off with dealer returned saying "nothing to worry about some just do it." They turned the rotor and returned the truck. Left dealer with four clean smooth rotors arrived home 13 miles later and left front grooved again. The first two pics are of left and right rotor after only 13 miles.
Returned to dealer over the next few weeks and made it a point to check numerous similar trucks with miles on them all had even wear to all four rotors and none were grooved like my front left. Ended up talking with a more experienced mechanic who said that it is typically caused by too much metal in the pads. Basically on occasion pads come off the line with above spec metal content.
Scheduled another brake check and sure enough too much metal in left front pads (see pic three). They warranted brakes and rotor and problem is solved. Never heard of such but he was right.

I just did my front rotors and pads on my 2014 and the drivers side inner pad looked just like that. The inside rotor had deep grooves. I've never seen that before. All the other pads still had plenty of pad left.
