Transmission trouble

Hmmm, well, so much for the 'easy' button. Never seems to work as well as it does on TV.
Suggest to bleed the system - procedure is much like is done for brake bleeding. If that doesn't solve the problem - will likely have to look at a master or slave cylinder replacement, or both.
With the reservoir being low - have my doubts that bleeding will solve the problem - but it's the next most 'easy' button. Suspect one or both of the cylinders is leaking.
If air has gotten into the system, at least bleeding will buy a little time.

You're gonna need to get your clutch replaced. Does it feel jerky when you pull away from a stop sign, can you feal the chatter in your foot clutch pedal. It's telling you the fingers are worn and the pedal is getting ready to drop to the floor. They really perty much all go together perty much at the same year.

i know this is a little late but it seems im having roughly the same problem with my truck.. my diagnosis is a cracked firewall where your master clutch slave sits in the firewall.. it could either be the inner (inside hte cab) or outter (under the hood) firewall.. the metal ford used was to week an broke pretty easly, forcing the master slave to move around with the rod pushing it, keeping it from going in to gear, easiest way to find is have someone hop in the cab an push the peddle while you watch the resevior see if it moves , i talked to a cuople guys who have worked ina ford dealership an said back in the late 80's early 90's this was a very comon problem.. now the trouble is finding the part its an aftermarket part an has been discountinued due to shop's not using them anymore, the part its self is a aluminum plate 2 different sizes small an large you can find the template on google, if you search around on the internet a little i found a guy who actually manufactures these parts out fo his garage $25 for the small $100 for the large.. same as the one you'd get from a parts store. i wouldnt pay a shop to do this either cuz it involves taking apart almost the entire drivers side interioir.. steering colum , pedals etc. it would run you a good 8 hours of labor just to take it apart. if you were planning on doing a rebuild now would be the time and put this plate in.. i've read some things were you can get by with the small plate an youd dont have to take all of that out but thats your decision.. idk if this helps any of you but this is wahts wrong with mine an sounds pretty darn close to what everon else is discribing

If your pedal has a lot of free play it isn't pumping enough fluid down to the hyd slave cylinder to disengage the clutch. It could be adjustment or the brake master cylinder stuck and not working properly. If this stuff has never been worked on all of it probably is worn. Brake master cyl, slave cyl and clutch. I would think adjustment would rule out a lot of things. If you adjust for free play and continue to have trouble does the clutch chatter a lot when you start moving in 1st gear. If it does it is worn out. If it is firm and works/pulls smoothly just replace the slave cyl and master cyl for the clutch, bleed them and you will have a good working, shifting truck.

i'd suggest replacing your master slave system the whole nine yards from your resevior to the slave cylinder inside the tranny, replace the clutch an pressure plate as well.. probbalylooking around $600 to get all that done just did the same thing to a similiar truck
