Transmission stuck in 3rd gear when shifted into drive
Mornin, Got in my 2011 F-150 with the 6R80 Trans and it shifted into drive just fine, started driving and noticed slow acceleration, looked down, and noticed it was locked out in 3rd gear. I tried shifting it out of third gear manually with the manual function, but no luck. Pulled over and shifted it into neutral, which it did with a huge clank, and back into drive, and with another huge clank, it automatically went into 3rd gear again. Threw it in reverse and back into drive and automatically went into 5th gear instead of third. Tried looking around but haven't seen anything on it.
There is an ATF leak at the bell housing, where the Trans meets the engine, and from my understanding, the fluid shouldn't be in there. Probably a seal on the shaft. That being said it's probably low on ATF. I have noticed recently the transmission will do funky shifts with a quite noticeable disconnect of power, but no clunking of metal. I'm going to assume this is because it's low on ATF?
Any information helps.

It is rare that a front pump seal will leak, but it is possible. I would make sure it isn't engine oil you're seeing, as a rear main seal leak is much more common. You may check the fluid of the transmission and ensure that it is filled properly, but it does require a specific process. The dipstick is located underneath the truck and behind a heat shield on the passenger side. You must warm the transmission first to a proper range, forget the temps but requires a scan tool, before checking its level, as the dipstick is marked A and B for fill levels. A very common issue that brought an extended warranty coverage to those trucks were failing lead frames. The lead frame is essentially the brain of the transmission and will create similar issues as to what you are having if failing. I would take the vehicle to a reputable shop to have this diagnosed properly.
My 2012 Platinum is having a lead frame issue. My truck has 159,000 miles on it and is over 10 years old so the cost of the repair is on me. I have read on forums where some folks have the lead frame replaced only to have it fail again. What is the consensus on here whether or its worth fixing or not versus trading it or sending through the auction?

Sent that back amd went to the Ford house. The part itself was around 590$ plus tax.
