Default Timing/Camshaft Phasers

Below is an email I wrote to Youtuber Fordtechmakuloko, and am hoping for some insight on what I should expect to do. Any thoughts?

"I’ve been watching your videos on youtube for quite some time and have a 2009 F-150 with about 217,000kms (135,000 miles). I have owned it for most of its life since 2011 with 58,000kms.
I used to replace the oil with Synthetic 5w-20 (mobil 1 or Castrol) but recently started using 5w-30 Synthetic after watching your video on the VCT solenoids and how switching to a higher viscosity oil can keep the oil pressure up, specifically after replacing the solenoid valves, phasers, and oil pump.

I’ve had the Camshaft phasers on my radar for quite some time, and the most noticeable issue I find, is that at times in the summer (I live in Canada so that’s when I notice it most) at hot idle in a drive through, I can hear the infamous ticking of the Camshaft phasers. The other thing that happens every once in a blue moon, is that when in gear, foot on the brake and truck not in motion, I’ll hear the engine lug down below 1000rpm and idle rough. If I put the transmission in Neutral and rev the engine, it will go back to a normal idle, and then I put it back into gear and the issue is gone.

My question to you is, should I plan for just a camshaft phaser replacement? And if so, would you ever recommend a phaser lockout kit (
) using the original Ford Phaser?
Or should I also be doing a full timing system inspection, along with Camshaft roller follower inspection?

Just trying to create a plan of attack, as I’m a heavy duty mechanic by trade, but am low on garage space at the moment!"
