Well I found out that I could not use the tilt method, the bed wraps around the cab preventing this. So me and my son moved it back a couple of feet.

Well the truck ran good for a while. But it starting become hard to start. Almost like it was starving for gas. We'll see how it goes tomorrow after it sitting all night.

Oh yeah, forgot about the bed wrap, the way you did it is the same way we did the Rangers.

Did you get a genuine Ford fuel pump? I've never had any luck with aftermarket pumps.

I don't think that this pump is up to the OEM standard. It takes longer to start, and my MPG's have dropped. Does the idle trim and shift points need to be relearned. I'm wondering if the fuel pressure is not up to where the original one kept it, at 50 psi. I can't check it, because I dropped my gauge and it broke. The engine check light has come on a few times with a P0171 and P0172. Does anyone know what the fuel pressure spec is?

171 and 172 are lean codes. Could be starving for fuel, could be a vacuum leak, maf, etc..

All I did was replace the fuel pump. Didn't disconnect any vacuum lines. When
I went to start it when leaving work, it took quite of few turn overs before it started. And on the way home on the interstate, it stumbled when I gassed it. Damn, this pump sucks. That's what I get for buying a part on eBay. Might order one from rockauto.

Do you think and idle trim and shift point relearn might help?

Buy the pump from Ford, no one else. Go from there.

I'll be changing this pump real soon. Sometimes it is hard to start. It does exhibit similar sysmtoms of the old pump which leads me to believe, is it really the pump, although I don't know what else it could be. My gas mileage has dropped to 13 MPG, from 15 or 16. And sometimes, when I peg the pedal, it will hesitate, and then accelerate. I'm guessing that the pressure is not up at 50 psi, but without a gauge, I can't confirm this. I'm sure that 50 psi is needed for the injectors to atomize the fuel. I'm waiting for Harbor freight to get a new shipment of gauges in. I notice that on when looking it up fuel pumps on rockauto, they want to know the wheelbase of the truck. When I ordered this pump, the only info was year and engine size. I'll let you guys know how it goes after installing another pump.

I don't think its the fuel pump. This one is doing the same thing, stalling after starting. Beginning to think that its leaking pressure somewhere, like maybe a rubber diaphram. Help!

I installed the Spectre fuel pump that I purchased from RockAuto. It works like a charm. I researched Spectre and they seemed like a reputable manufacturer of OEM parts. They make the fuel tanks as well. The spec on it was 55-61 PSI, and it is pumping up to 56 PSI. The cost was about $140 with shipping, not bad. Anyways, I would suggest staying away from those cheap fuel pumps on eBay.
