Default tailgates

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if a tailgate from a 94 f150 longbed would fit an 87 shortbed?
thanks

Probably not. '90-96 trucks use a strike bolt similar to the door, or a Bronco t/g.

(phone app link)

Older trucks use a sliding bolt catch in the t/g and a square loop on the bedside. Which does yours have?

i will check that out. it is in the shop now and i am getting ready for surgery.
i have been without my truck for 3 months and was sold a clutch and then told i needed tranny when in reality it is a shifter i need and the plate that goes behind the break booster. found the plate.....
so it was misdiagnosed by my mechanic and then by the transmission shop he asked for help. $2,200 later, still need shifter.
i am so upset but have to concentrate on healing after surgery.
thanks guys
