Default Is it a switch???

I have a 2001 F150 with 172000 and it has been a really good truck. Now when the weather is cool and you pull up to a stop light, sign or just stop and make a turn it feels like the four wheel drive is in. This only last for just a few seconds maybe 5 to 10 seconds. I cannot find the cause. It has been less than 50k since I changed the fluid in the tranny and the transfer.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Terry

Tight turns only? Sounds like a locking hub is stuck.

I'm getting ready to post a question about a similar issue on my 2016 3.5 Ecoboost which in the mornings (foothills west of Denver at 8300') I coast down my 300' driveway, the shift indicator shows going from 1 to 3 to 5 and then coming to a stop it goes to 3 so then I'm taking off in 3rd gear and it totally feels like 4WD on dry surface. That last for a few seconds, then there's a clunk and drives normal. I've had it in the shop 3x, no help after replacing molded lead frame in the transmission. Truck has only 26k now. Problem started around 12k. Looking for any answers on here.
