Default Starting issues

hello all, I'm confused as to what my truck did to me I had to coast to side of a parking lot when engine died all of a sudden, it was running fine all day then all of a sudden it started surging ,stumbled and died. I tried to crank it, it will turn over and finally crank but as soon as it does it stumbles and dies like its not getting power or fuel, I've checked for spark, it has it, checked for fuel, its getting it, so what could be causing this?

Squirrel in the air box. Bad timing. Is it a 1968 390? Check the points.

Punctuation please.

What year and type of vehicle is this.
What motor is in it.
What type of maintenance has been done.
What is the difference between crank and turn over...I don't know of a motor that won't crank but does turn over.

Are you just out of gas?

Please take a moment and pretend we don't know you or your vehicle and describe the best you an with information that we would need.
For example, if you walked into a parts store and told the parts guy "my vehicle stalled and I don't know how to get it to start", will the parts counter person be able to fix you up?

I'm not trying to be rude but you haven't given us much to go by so please help us help you.

I did explain whats going on best I could and yes it turns over and tries to crank but as soon as it does it dies I have done all of the maintenance change the spark plug change the wires change the coil pack, air filter, fuel filter, whole tank gas, and its a 01 f150 4.2 v6 single cab stepside, short bed
oh also when I tried pressing the relief valve on fuel rail to see if it was getting fuel it was but today I went and checked again and now there's no fuel from fuel rail at all today what can make it have fuel yesterday out of fuel rail and today it doesn't? Also I don't hear fuel pump kicking on when turning key either maybe fuel pump went out ??? By the way I'm not a mechanic by a long shot but just know a few basics so please don't be rude to my comments or anything I'm not perfect and still don't know about im learning still

If you turn the key on a few times but still get no pressure from the rail then a bad fuel pump seems possible.

By the way, crank and turn over mean the same thing.

If the truck starts and then dies consistently, I'd suspect a collapsed converter or plugged exhaust. The exhaust can't escape and backs up into the motor killing fuel ignition (no oxygen). If nothing else pans out, the easiest way I know to check is to crack open the exhaust ahead of the converter (loosen at manifold, maybe) and see if it runs, albeit loudly.

Good luck...

Yea you had fuel in the lines originally but no pressure which is why it would start and die. Once you did that enough times you used the fuel in the rail and the pump wasn't sending more. Glad you got it going.
