I have an 05 F150 4x4 with 5.4L. Have never had a problem with the truck strarting. Its been below freezing for a while and I thought that I got some bad fuel a few weeks ago because it ran rough after a fuel up but seemed to come out of it after next fuel up. The day it quit starting it ran fine in morning and again in early afternoon, but in early evening it would not start, cranks strong but no start. My first thought was fuel filter so I changed it the next day, still would not start. So I tried starting fluid in air intake...it started, ran in limp mode for about ten minutes, shut it off and restarted fine and ran fine, ran it for about twenty minutes just fine, shut it off again and let it sit for about an hour and retried...started fine. Parked it overnight. Next morning would not start again, still cranks like a champ. Been a week now and have tried it a few times with same effect cranks strong but no start. Any suggestions?

I have noticed that I cannot hear the in tank pump run for the couple of seconds when key is first turned on.

same thing happened to me a few months ago... oddly enough it was my battery.. lights would come on etc etc... but my battery was just junk so i replaced it and my truck did fine.. not sure if this helps but worth a try atleast
