Unhappy Shifter Stuck after Transmission Replaced

2009 F-150, 4WD, V8, 5.4L, column shifter

I replaced the transmission with a used one. Once replacement was complete I went to test drive the truck. It starts but the shifter won't move. It is stuck in park. But the dash says it's in neutral.

Brake lights do come on when pressing the brake, so it does not appear to be an issue with the brake light switch.

Any idea how to remedy?

Thank you in advance.

Interlock switch hooked up? This allows the shift lock mechanism to disengage so the lever can be moved.
You should hear a click in the area of the shift lever when you press the brake pedal.

Thanks for the idea Scott - I ended up taking it to the dealer and they confirmed that the used transmission was bad and needed to be returned. Luckily it came with a warranty and was replaced. I'm up and running now! Thanks again.
