Default Rough idle and at certain rpm

I have a 00 f150 and when the truck idles it will have a rough idle, it also has a rough feeling while driving and I'm around 1500 rpm, anything lower or higher it goes away. I tried cleaning mass air sensor and throttle body but nothing changed. I just recently purchased this truck so don't know much of its history. The check engine light is on but when I got it scanned at a few places it couldn't connect and they said it could be an electrical problem. Am I missing something obvious or is their something I should look at replacing? If you need any more info or I left something out let me know.

That code will probably point you in the right direction.
Try this to read your code , no computer needed

you are looking for "DTC xxxx". That's your trouble code, write down the number and google it.
Good luck

What your describing sound like it could be a vacuum leak. My 2000 F-150 had several leaks throwing p0171 AND p0174 LEAN CODES. Check all of your hoses and even the PCV valve. If you have a 4.2V6 you might need to replace all the intake manifold gaskets. I did. Good luck.

I found the problem, the fuse for the scanner/cig lighter was blown so it wasnt able to be read. Then the idle problem was simply a misfire of cylinder 7 and a quick coil pack change fixed that.
