Default replacing engine in the back yard?

hello all I'm new to the forms names cloud. Here's my question, I have found a 07 f150 for $2800 at a local construction company. the truck has high miles 220k with a blown motor. I have priced a motor at a salvage yard $850. Do you think that this would be a doable project in the back yard? I am a second year high school auto student. I've pulled and engine before and am very comfortable under the hood of most cars (especially fords) but the bulk of my experience is on mid 90s and early 2000s models. thoughts???

What sort of equipment do you have? Im not sure how youd get the engine in and out of the bay. I Dont think a std Harbor Freight engine hoist has enough clearance for that.
Is it doable? I'm sure. Will it be easy? hell no. Where are you from? Maybe you can use one of my brothers lifts or somethin.
Ill tell you what tho 2800 sounds like an awesome deal. Have you seen the truck? Ive got a feeling it will be absolutely destroyed.. Their scrap value is like 1k so 2800 is waaaaaaaay cheap.

OMFG that's hilarious! Scrap value is by weight, about $350 is the average.

He could always build a ramp for the engine hoist . Tricky, but possible haha

Just pull the front end off. $2800 seems to be little high with 220k on it. At 220k the drive train and tie rods, ball joints and the rest may be worn out,new tires. Before you know it you could have gotten a running truck for the price.

A sturdy oak and come-along. Or build a wooden frame. Or a tractor with 3 point boom. I've pulled engines all those ways. The only thing I'm never used is an engine hoist.

To the OP, it's surely doable if you have the ability.
