Rebuilding vs used parts - rear diff
Well I just bought my first F150 and love it. I knew it needed some repairs so no surprise, but I'm trying to figure out my best option.
Mechanic said it needs a pinion bearing in the rear diff and a bearing on the right rear axle. Tomorrow I'm calling to get quotes, but what do you all think about rebuild kits vs a junk yard diff?
Are there any good quality rebuild kits? Is rebuilding a diff something most mechanics can do a quality job on? (seems like it could be an issue from my searching)
The truck is a 2003 4.6 manual 4wd.
Thanks

I would only go with oem new motorcraft parts OR upgraded aftermarket diffs if you want higher performance than stock for some reason. From a longevity standpoint, I believe that motorcraft parts and oil per the manual is going to be your best option.
Now, if you want to do something like adding an air locker, now would be the time do it.
