Rear Power Sliding Window Top Track Loose
#11
So the double sided tape didnt last long in Florida heat. I took the top bracket back off and scraped both surfaces clean. The rail has 2 edges that run down the top and bottom of this bracket. I sanded them flush with the bracket to have a uniform mating surface. I went out and bought clearweld by JB Weld. Applied it and took two ppl to hold it in place and applied alot of pressure on the sliding window and outside edges of the rail. It take about 10 mins to really harden up to where it will not move so beware it sucks applying force and holding it trying not to move for that long. I let it stay for 48 hours and it seems to be working fine. Stuff lasts from -40 to 350 degrees F; so dnt have to worry about heat build up in my truck from the sun. Wipe the rail and top of window where the rail sits down with acetone or lacquer thinner i used lacquer thinner, test fit the rail before applying the epoxy. I found out from my own truck they did apply urethane or some other rubber type of sealant on that piece the four pieces of tape are just to hold it down and in place while that dries. Its sad Ford wants $1400 to fix this when testing shouldve been done or better engineering. The epoxy trick has worked for me and it may work for other people but do this at your own risk. I was about to have an auto company tear out this slider and put in a solid piece but im cheap so I just JB Welded it in place. Goodluck guys and that sucker doesnt move anymore or rattle
The 3M tape is holding up pretty well in the Louisiana heat.. I also used the 3M prep pads before I put the tape on.. this stuf is made for spoilers, so it should hold on pretty well in the heat.

Problem Solved!
Ford used two way tape to attach the plastic track to the cab that the window slides on. Over time heat loosens the tape and the track just hanges there.
The fix:
1.Gently pull the track off from the cab by pulling on each corner. Or use a small blade.
2. Scrape old tape residue from cab using a razor blade.
3. Use orange cleaner to remove old tape residue from the back side of the plastic track itself.
4. Let it dry.
5. Apply a bead of 3M Window-Weld Super Fast Urethane, Black, to the track.
6. Place window back into to the bottom track then push the top track onto the window and firmly push into place against the cab.
7. Use some wedges to hold the track in place while the urethane adhesive dries.
*. If your lazy take it to a auto glass shop and it's a 5-10 minute fix. Anything they charge you under $100 is cheaper than your warranty deductible.

Yeah, track just fell down on mine too, it's a 2016 with 56K miles on it. Gonna try and find an auto glass shop in Houston that I can trust to fix it. I'll let y'all know how that goes.
Took a pic of it last night since it doesn't appear anyone's gotten a pic yet.

Alright, got it fixed.
Paid a place called Clear Lake Auto Glass in Houston $95 to clean off the old epoxy and reapply a new bead. Took 20 minutes. This was his first time seeing this issue.
ill update y’all if it fails.
UPDATE AS OF 9/15/22 - Had to get them to do this repair again. This time it was $175.

I have a 2015 F150 also with the loose back window.
Tried the 3M Window-weld super fast urethane on the track.
That lasted just one month here in Southern Florida.
Next I will try the 3M 06382 Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape and see what happens.
Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Mine just came loose too. The top plastic track piece popped off and window fell out but fine on bottom track. Top track was held on by urethane adhesive. I went to Auto zone got 3m window urethane adhesive and scuffed up the preexisting glue and put glue on it and it's held up fine. You shouldn't have tape on there from the factory... Weird. But yeah it's all supposed to be urethane glue.
