when must i change computer module...if i swap motor size?
i blew the motor in my 2001 fx4 and need new ....if i install different size, must i change computer module? anything else i havve to do? if i change motor size i have been told i must swap the module...does module also have any effect on shifting of transmission

if i change motor size i have been told i must swap the module...does module also have any effect on shifting of transmission Yes, it actually TELLS the transmission when to shift. Therefore, if using the same transmission, and the engine swap is, say, a Modular V-8 4.6L to a 5.4L, the possibility exists that a re-program of the fuel injector curve might just run OK. If engine swap does not affect engine operational specs of different types, less difficult.
Capability of doing this sort of thing lies with those who have done it, usually for themselves, and specialty companies who can, will need tons of $$ to accept the job.
BTW, by "module" you mean exactly what? Powertrain Control Module (PCM, or "computer"), or one of the 3 or 4 other things Ford calls "Modules"?
