I just bought a 07 F150 XLT 5.4 3v it did not come with a spare my father in law has a 16 inch rim and tire will it work?

As long as the bolt pattern is the same and the tire is close to the same height as the ones on the truck. Pull off a wheel and try it. The only place you might have a problem is the brake caliper hitting the rim.
