So I'm mechanical engineer trying to be a businessman, and I've got a product idea for you guys. Let me know what you think.

What I'm thinking about is using a Bluetooth OBD scanner to continuously monitors all of your vital car and engine data, as well as driving habits, then using statistical analysis and a phone app, tell you the likelihood of any upcoming maintenance events, and their projected costs. I know there are already a lot of devices like this out there, but I'm thinking if you can bring that together with data about how each car needs to be maintained and how driving habits affect the life of certain components, it can add a lot of value. Such as the effects of high engine revs vs. high miles being measured differently.

If you can answer some of the questions on my survey that would be really helpful.

I would've paid for a $50 one-time fee and then a $5 once-a-year fee to keep the updates coming, but that wasn't an option.

 

I took your survey. Have you created a landing page as part of your market validation/analysis yet? Bluetooth obd adapters, smart phones, and the connected car are creating some exciting times for some entreprenuers.
