On a 2012 F150 there is Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS). No fluid.

I'm not sure about a F1560.

Default F150 power steering

No problem. I called the Ford dealer to find out. I'm still learning about my truck. They sure do make them different than they used to. I'll have more questions the more I own it.

Many of them are answered in the owner's manual.

Default power steering fluid level check

There's alot of info in the manual. But it does not tell you everything. It does not say I have an electric power steering system in the EcoBoost engine. It only shows the bigger engine. And it does not list anything other than taking the truck to a dealer to check the transmission fluid level. The EcoBoost does not have a dipstick for that.

Of course not - it's not a technical manual, or a service manual. It's an owner's manual, and it DOES answer the question of the trans fluid: take it to a service tech.

I did and the service tech said there is no dipstick for the 6 speed transmission on the 2012 F150 3.5 Eco Boost. The transmission should be checked by an authorized dealer (pg 416 in the owner's manual) and if needed the fluid should only be added by the dealer. The pickup has to be looked at from underneath and the plug removed to check the fluid level. The Eco Boost is different than the bigger engine that still has the dipstick. The power steering fluid on the 6.2 V8 engine is the only one that has the fluid reservoir for checking that fluid level, pg 415 of the owner's manual. The manufacturer wants the owners to go to the dealer for every little thing and more or less tells you that in the manual.

There is a dipstick on the 6 speed trans, it's very short and yes it must be accessed from underneath PITA especially when you have to check it running and the exhaust is right in the way, to add fluid you literally have to pump it up into the fill hole.

Since the trans is sealed for life if it's not leaking there's no need to check it. Shop manual states to never service it either unless it's seen severe duty and then only at 150,000 miles.
