Question Passenger Wiring Channel Filling with Water

It was raining yesterday and we noticed the sound of sloshing water on the front passenger side of the vehicle. I discovered the footwell carpeting was wet, and after ripping up the plastic, found that the wiring channel was full of water (over an inch deep). When I wedged a towel into the channel, it became sopping wet and the channel would immediately refill again. Eventually I used a shop vac to remove all the water. I experimented with placing paper towels in various places, such as what is pictured in the top of the footwell, but it remained dry. I suspect water is coming in from somewhere on the B pillar, but I'm unable to localize it. Note that this issue may have been going on for a while, but because it doesn't rain very frequently where I am, I hadn't noticed any water sloshing noises until yesterday. I did notice a smell a few months ago that was probably mildew from the same leak making the carpet wet.

Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you resolve it?

Tried stuffing paper towel into this vertical area and it remained dry.

Wiring channel was completely filled with water before I vacuumed it out.

Tracked my leak to the rear slider seal. Found a gap at the lower right corner. Filled gap with silicone, slid some wax paper in first to prevent silicone from sticking to the glass.

Check rear carpet pad mat. Mine was damp. Spray pad and carpet with a mold and mildew killer and dry with a small electric heater

Check your passenger side door to see if it is collecting water since that is generally the location for a sloshing sound. Door drains get clogged.
