Default 2003 f150 5.4 triton grinding noise

Brothers truck just shut off at interstate speed following me. Didnt get hot, good oil pressure. Battery was dead. Took the alternator off and it tested good from 2 different places. Checked the pulleys why the belt was off. The power steering pulley has some wiggle and probably will get replaced. Replaced battery and it started but sounds like a dang tractor. Grinding/scraping noise from somewhere, can't locate exact location and it barely runs. I didnt want to drive it in fear of more damage. I have watched every video i can find and am still stumped. I will be pulling valve covers next to get a look at the cams and chains. Any suggestions
