Default P2418- Engine Code - Evaporative Emission Control System Switch Valve

Hello, looking for help on a P2418 code. I've searched the forum and only found one post with no replies with a similar ask.

Truck- 2015 F-150 2.7L Ecoboost 4X4

Any suggestions on where to start? The gas cap (or flap) seems fine itself- I did pull off the engine cover to look at the EVAP canister- looks fine and all connected. Of course that part (below) is not at a typical auto parts store- so trying to avoid a trip to the dealer and order online if the likelihood is I need to replace it. Truck drives and sounds fine as far as I can tell. Thanks in advance!

Did you figure out what the issue was? I have a 2016 F150 with the same code P2418 that keeps coming on and off. I have replaced the purge valve and the vapor canister and it is still coming on. I am also having a hard time getting gas.

Any help would be great!

Thank you,

Has anyone fixed this issue? I have been searching the forum and lots of questions concerning this code but I have not found anyone say they have resolved it. I assume this is not covered under the 8/80000 emissions warranty.

Kascus,

I did figure it out on mine. I had someone change out these 2 parts. See screenshot below. I was also on this other thread that has more info. See this link:

Thanks Eric for the info. I was really hoping it would be the one under the intake cover and not that one. Looks like a PITA to get to.

Yeah I bought the parts and had a local mechanic do the work. I know he had to drop the fuel tank. I changed the charcoal canister and the valve under the hood first, but this did the trick. The main problem I had was getting fuel and the code would come on and off.

Thank you,
I had the P2418 code after disconnecting the electrical connector for the fuel tank isolation valve/switching valve p/n DU5A-9G712-CB. It’s located on top of the fuel tank in the vent line between the tank and evap canister. I replaced it due to very slow fueling, pump shuts off early no CEL. The valve was hard to blow through and did not respond to 12v at the 2 pins on the valve. The replacement valve was unrestricted when blown through and clicked closed with 12v applied. You can access the valve on the left side of the tank by lowering the tank just enough. No need to fully drop the tank or remove the driveshaft. Ford wanted $470.00 for the valve and line to the canister. I found one for $26.00 on Amazon and reused the line. Fixed my problem

Nick the grub,

I like these posts the most! Many, many of the posts in this forum (and others) are open ended. Problem stated, solutions suggested but no closure. Thank you for posting feedback that allows future readers to understand and consider your experience with the issue.
