I believe it is time for the instrument cluster to come outa' there. I have no personal experience with your 1997 Model so can offer no quality assistance. Perhaps movement of some loose connection / ground or circuit board trace or connector during removal may provide a clue or direction. Otherwise, -> repair shop.

Okay, now I'm confused. I changed the temp sensor on the top of the engine right next to the alternator and now the temp won't go up at all? the Oil pressure is still reading right and when I stick a jumper between the 2 pins of the temp sensor harness the temp gauge goes to max... what am I not seeing?

You are not seeing - ANYTHING very meaningful!

You may need to be a little more cautious going around sticking jumpers between pins on the wiring harness - unless you know exactly what type sensor you're dealing with. The Oil Pressure sensor is a "contact switch", and shorting its wires together is rather benign. But a coolant sensor is a 'thermistor' (changes resistance relative to temperature), and that's quiet a different thing.

What should be expected to happen??? I don't have a clue. Possibly blow something up!
