I go between 3-5,000. Once I hit 3,000 I go buy the oil and filter (Motorcraft) and then just try to get it done one day when I get around to it before it hits 5,000. Been doing that for years and it's worked pretty well.

More than beaten to death. Manual tells you OLM will activate at a year, or 10,000 miles, or when it needs to be per usage, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. So 12,000 miles will not happen.

I agree here. I buy oil at 3000 miles and try to have it changed within 500 miles of that. I use motorcraft. Gives me peace of mind changing at 3000 miles. Its easy and cheap maintainence.
