Default Oil change by ford

I have a 12 Fx4 that uses the 5w30 oil. I have always paid the $39.99 for the works package plus the cost of an extra quart of oil. Today for the same oil change I was charged more, the dealer's response..."oil prices went up so you now pay for the extra quart plus the difference in the weight of oil for the works package, 5w20 vs 5w30. Is this something new or is this dealer ripping people off? I looked at the works coupon when I returned home and didn't see anything about extra fees for gas oil changes....just diesel.

Dealer is ripping you off. It takes such a long time for a rise in oil prices to see it reflected in motor oil prices. Plus the dealer probably bought that oil months ago.

What a load of crap. They're suckering you.

Several years ago I didn't have a place to change my oil myself. I bought the oil and filter then went to a Midas down the street from my house. They would charge me $10 to do it and the guy would let me check stuff under the car myself while it was on the lift. Total cost about $40

It costs me $28, a couple beers, and 30 minutes for Mobil 1 and a Motorcraft filter when I do it myself.
