Default oil capacity

Hi I know this ain't a f250 site but it pretty much is a f150. I have a 1997 f250 with the 5.4L V8 in it. I just changed the oil and put 6qts in it like it says but it only reads halfway on the dipstick. I don't get it. Anybody else know have this problem and know why? Thanks in advance!

You might want to check the dipstick tube. They have been known to pull out of the engine block a little and give you a false reading. Also look at the dipstick as well. If the cap has slipped away from the handle it won't allow it to go in all the way and look like you're low on oil. Finally if the dipstick has a curve in it it may not be going in properly. Straighten it and try putting it in with the handle facing the opposite way. Good luck. BTW yes 6 qts is correct
