help 4.2 issue
I have a 2002 f150 4.2 with manual trans. and has 165k on it. The problem is sometimes it will crank and then it will die after a few seconds. All the guages will be bottomed out and it will act like it isnt getting any fuel. It did it today and I just left it off and I went back out and it fired right up. The truck idles fine and drives smooth and has plenty of power going down the road. It is throwing the PO174 code but with the guages in the dash bottoming out im thinking its some kind of electrical problem. Any one ever had this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

PO174 running lean bank two, (drivers side). Check for vaccum leaks including the power booster. Have you had the intake bolts and isolators changed per the TSB?
Electrical issue: Do I understand you correctly, engine is running, gauges go to zero and engine quits? Reason I ask, the gauges will peg high both tach and speedo during cranking of engine with starter if the battery is going out. Why it does this, is still a mystery to me.

Not sure on intake botls, havent owned the truck long. Heres what happened. I cranked engine and it and it ran for a few seconds and just died. I noticed the all the guages were bottomed out after it died, not running. Then it wouldnt start back. Then Ide say 10 min later i went back ant it cranked fine. Has good oil pressure and battery guage reads normal. Im stumped. I just got back and I drove it about 5 miles and everything was fine other than the check engine light. I have also cranked it several times also and was fine. Im just wondering when its going to do it again.
