What is this hose?!

1995 f150

While locating the VSS I found this hose dangling about. Searched and searched but couldnt figure out what it is for. Is it for the rear gas tank? Brakes?

Vent for the axle. Keeps the wheel seals from blowing out when the diff gets warm

This^^ and you need to secure it back to the frame so you don't ingest any water into the differential.
