Default Abnormal Outside Temperature Display

I've been noticing that the outside temperature display is not displaying the correct temperature. Its been in the 70s lately and my display tells me that its 100+ degrees outside!
Does anyone know where the thermocouple is mounted or has anyone experienced this kind of problem? The manual doesn't say anything about calibrating the thermocouple, only the compass.

Mine is down near the engine compartment. So if I park and idle the truck, the temp shows to increase rapidly. Well beyong 100 also.

is the truck parked in the sun? Mine would frequently tag 100+ in the summer.

Lately its been mostly cloudy and in the low-mid 70s. It would show 100+ degrees even after I just started the truck (no time to let the engine warm up). I think that it might be a bad thermocouple and/or an excessive load to the thermocouple causing an inaccurate reading.

My Mazda RX8 has an outside temp display too and even on days where the sun is out and its in the 90s, it still reads the correct temperature. Maybe its a difference in the positioning.
:sigh: just another thing to add to my list.

Default innacurate reading

Did you ever get this fixed? If so, how? Mine is doing the same thing.

My temp thingy does this as well...

I just thought it was because it was parked in the sun, and was warm. Then after I started driving it down the driveway and on to the street, it would start to drop. After a few minutes, it settled down to the correct temp.

I haven't had the chance to get in start and stop traffic yet.

When you live in a town of 7000 people, there isn't much of that...

Unfortunately I haven't had time to look into this. I was hoping that someone with a shop manual would tell me where the thermocouple runs through so I don't have to search around for it. I assuming that its running down the A-pillar and into/next to the engine compartment (which is why the temp rises after a few minutes... at least with my problem).
Its strange to hear that a lot of Ford F150 trucks from a variety of years have this issue.
My Mazda RX8 displays the outside temp and it always stays consistent... and its a rotary engine so you know it gets hot under the hood. Since I have the shop manuals for my RX8 I'll see where the thermocouple is at and compare that to the F150's location (if someone can help me locate it).

I have figured out how you fix this. I will post up a write up on it with pics and all.

Awesome! I was procrastinating this!
My Mazda RX8 has the temp sensor mounted on the front grill, I was going to start looking around there on the F150.
Anxiously awaiting your write-up!
