Default Multiple issues

Looking for advice. I have a 2016 F150 with the V8 crew can 4wD

I will be driving & I get several errors.
traction system, charging system, Brakes etc..
At the same time my dash goes dark, screen goes dark, power steering goes off, but yet it drives. Then it all comes back on. Does it several times back to back.

happened 3x now. 2 were when it was raining.

Thanks for your help
paul

Damn, I'm not too versed on these trucks but it definitely sounds like an electrical issue, especially if its happened twice with rain. Plus I'm pretty sure the power steering in these trucks is electrical too. If its all happening at the same time, then its not multiple issues, something is affected all of these. Most likely something shorting out, maybe something touching where it shouldn't, or a bad ground (though I don't think rain would make that worse). Maybe look through your fuses, harnesses, etc for signs of something burned, frayed, or even loose. Maybe try to figure out where all these affected systems tie together, 1 harness with all these cables or a spot where they are all run together.

If you've got warranty take it to the dealer.

Thank you both. Warranty is long gone.

I dunno how much help this will be but...I'm trying to help.

First, rain water is distilled water. There will be some impurities in it from air pollution, but for the most part, it's pure water. Pure water conducts electricity poorly and is unlikely to be the cause of your problems. I think it's pure coincidence that it's done it twice in the rain.

More relevant I think (and hope) to your problem is that it's probably one main circuit that's having trouble and it's a loose connection. Unless you live where mice are a problem getting into vehicles (or squirrels) and have had it parked for awhile, it should be solvable (mice damage is a "****" (Ford technical term)). On my 2011 150 EB there are several power taps coming off the positive terminal of the battery. If vital "life support" circuits are functioning (FI and ignition) and other systems (display, stereo, PS) aren't, it sounds like a loose connection to a "branch" circuit.

I would start at the positive battery terminal and disconnect and reconnect each fitting on those cables just to be sure. Then pull and replace (I mean just put them back) the larger branch fuses (maybe corroded contacts or simply loose).

Lastly, I saw this about 2 years ago on an F350 which had just had it's batteries switched: There were two ground wires from the batteries, one from each, as I recall. The vehicle would power up some systems (power seats and headlights), yet give no response to the ignition switch being turned on. WTF?! I was helping a neighbor and had to shake my head and tell him I was sorry, I had no clue. He got a one-time Ford mechanic to look at it and turned out that the owner (neighbor) had missed one of the ground cables because it fell out of sight and he didn't remember all he had disconnected. Doh! The point is: it is possible, and I've seen, that some systems may be connected to the battery with some cables, yet other systems may have their own connection. We've come along way since the days of one cable to the positive terminal, one to the negative terminal, and everything pretty much running through one or two fuse blocks.

HTH. YMMV. EIEIO.
