Default Missed trans cap?

Bought my first f150 today. It’s a 1995. Seems to be missing a cap on the transmission. This an issue? Does it need to be replaced before driving it?
any insight would be great. Thanks I’m just learning.

Not needed, there was a rubber plug there probably shrunk over the years and fell out, that is the hole you would access when servicing the tranny, it allows you to get to the torque convertor drain plug.

The caption of this photo is the TSB about it:

It's not critical, but it will keep the TC cleaner (so it doesn't rust/vibrate) and the trans front seal from wearing out as fast.

Did the PO supply the hose that goes to that oil drain valve? If not, I'd swap back to the normal bolt (which could be tricky to find in the standard thread size), or a newer (better) drain valve. That brass isn't designed to be installed/removed repeatedly, so it will wear & leak. I prefer the Fumoto, but there are several other brands...

I'd replace the plug. It keeps water, crud and road salt out. The TSB advises to seal it with silicone (which I think is a bit extreme) so somebody at Ford thinks it's a good idea.

Somebody at Ford thought the Pinto was a good idea.

The silicone in the TSB is just an adhesive; not a sealant. No matter how tightly that plug seals, the access panel on the front of the bellhousing less than 1/2" away (and visible in his pics) is still vented (just a steel plate bolted on, with a wrinkle stamped in to let fluids drain out).
