Luke warm temps at idle, gets hot while driving

Connect a scan tool and see what it indicates your actual engine temperature is. If you are using the dash gauge they cannot be trusted.

Thats what I have done, thats how I know it was getting up to 225, I was using Forscan.

temps reached 232 and my temp gauge finally got up to 50% on my dash and went just a little bit higher but it cooled down quickly after that, im thinking that the new thermostat I put in was crappy.

So if anyone is following or watching this post, I ended up going to the dealership and buying an oem motorcraft thermostat and now my coolant doesnt get over 205 degrees at the hottest, however, my temp gauge on my dash is still only getting up to 48% so I think i am going to swap out sensors with an oem motorcraft replacement and see if that helps.
