How the heck do I change oil/filter on EcoBoost?

Ford can still try and deny, rightfully so............

I can't remember who I was talking to...

But this guy had a company vehicle....... would buy oil, filter every 2-3 months, turn in the reciept to get his money back from the company..... then when he left somebody went to change the oil and it looked something like this

He never changed the oil, but he bought the oil and filter so he could return it for cash........ after he turned in the reciept........ :L

(Beware the scammers, poor engine didn't deserve that)

My buddy works at Ford engine and a break in additive/oil is used, so I put the 5,000 -7,500 miles on it before it's first oil change. I let the dealer do it also, U don't have to worry about the old oil either, plus fill out some dealer surveys the send you, I got free oil change.

Hmm...so the Ecoboost 3.5 in the F-150 does in fact have a 'break-in' additive in the engine's oil from the factory? This is the first time I've heard this. The dealership service manager said that regular dino comes in the engine from the factory, but there isn't a break-in additive.

FAIL..........if this was true your owners manual would state not to change it ...talking about voiding a warranty...lol

What does the maintenance booklet say. Does it say change it at 1000 miles? I doubt it. I would go with what the manual says not earlier with the first oil change. Whether or not the factory fill oil is special is not easily confirmed.

Exactly!!! Try to buy the oil and filter at the same time. preferably from a parts store that shows the filter number on the receipts, so they know it was for that vehicle.
I'd much rather work on it myself, I know some guys that work in dealerships... yeah, anyways. lol

I would only change it at a 1000 miles if the truck sat on the lot for 3 months or more before it was bought. Have it inspected at the dealer to make sure the factory put it together correctly or if any leaks are showing. Then just do a lube oil and filter at 3 or 5K depending on use.

Thank you for all of the opinions, but I was not asking IF I should change it. The question is regarding the two panels on the underside of the vehicle. One being metal (almost like a skid plate) and one being that black fiberboard material. We can pretend I have 1000000k miles on it and want to change it myself if it helps. I've never seen that set up on a vehicle before and was curious.

My ford buddy isn't 100% sure for all engines but yes, most engines should have some kind of break in oil, the manual won't tell you not to change it befor hand, but to change it at the recommended milage(7500 miles for my 5.4)
Sorry this got off subject.
I asked him and he has an eco boost in his shop he will look at in morning. Right now all he said was that maybe it's an added protector plate for the turbo lines, hopefully I'll hear from him Mon. regarding oil drain access.

Thanks Buck, I appreciate it. Protection or air flow are my two guesses. He has 1700 on it now thanks to spring break and his first camping trip.
