How to fill the cooling system from dry
Good day fellow Ford owners,
My son and I have just finished putting a re-manufactured 4.6L in my 2005 stx. I'm about to fill the cooling system and wondered if there was any sage advice on doing so considering the block and radiator are empty. I'm thinking of filling in the top radiator hose and hoping it vents out the heater hose connection on the intake manifold.
I flushed the radiator with a garden hose while it was out but I'm tempted to flush the whole system again be for I put the coolant in it. Any thoughts on that? The engine doesn't need it but the radiator and heater core could probably use it. These radiators with out a cap on them are new to me!
Thanks,
Hugh

You can fill through the surge tank like normal. Or remove the t-stat housing, and fill through there, install t-stat and housing, and top off through surge tank.
