Default HELP! I turn the key and nothing. PATS?!?

I have a 2009 XL that I've been doing a ton of research on and haven't found anything that helps. I went to get in my truck put the key in the ignition turned the key, and nothing. With the key in the ON position the security light blinks rapidly. I've checked all the fuses, my battery is hot. I tried my second key with no luck. Could it be the PCM relay or the module itself? Or does something need a reset? I left my battery completely disconnected all night no luck. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated

Even if it is PATS I think it should still crank.

I just took the battery and had it tested, it checked out good. So I know it's not the battery.

From what I've read, and I've read a bunch about this, you can have this with PATS.

Since it's an 09 that could be a possibility I guess. On the older models they would crank but not start.

Could this be related to a bad BCM?

BCM's weren't implemented until 2011. 09 has a GEM. Sounds to me like you have one or more bad keys. Get a couple new keys from Ford not ebay, get them cut to mechanically work and use Forscan to program them. That is the cheapest route to take as anything more would require indepth diagnostics.

So you're saying there's a chance that both of my keys just went bad? The reason I'm thinking it cold be GEM related, only my drivers rate door will unlock with the fob and my horn recently started no working intermittently

On your truck that system has it's own module, as you could guess, the PATS module. When that light rapid flashes it's an indication that the module is triggering a theft event. Could be a lot of things, could be the transducer around the ignition cylinder on the column, could be wiring, could be bad keys, could be etc etc etc..... Get new keys, have them cut and try to program them with Forscan. Next step if that's not the problem is indepth diagnostics, I really dislike repeating my self.
