Question Help, i think the stealership charged me for work they didn't do.

I went in to my local Ford dealership to have them change the spark plugs on my 2009 F-150 XLT 5.4L V-8. This is the first time I have gone to the dealership for maintenance as i try to do everything myself but I know these plugs can be a PITA. After I get home I pop the hood up and have a look around the engine... it looks like no one has touched it. There is still crap / little dirt or rust flakes in the spark plug wells and I think to myself there is no way they changed these plugs with all this crap still there. I looked up the Ford manual to change the plugs and STEP 1 says to clean out the wells with compressed air! I'm a relatively new F-150 owner and before I go back to the dealership and accuse them of not doing the work I need you opinion.

Attached are a couple pictures of the spark plug wells, all 8 look just like this. Is it possible they changed them without cleaning that crap out.

The only way to tell for sure is to remove one of the coils and remove a spark plug.
Good luck

I would drive back over and get the GM and SM out to look at it!

I can't quite tell what all I'm looking at, but other things to look at would be hand prints anywhere on the engine. If they had to loosen clips or nuts, those couod potentially be cleaner.

I'd just pick an easy one to remove though and have a look.

When I have the dealership do work, I ask for the old parts. That helps them know that I'm at least looking at them.

Hopefully, you get your parts and not someone elses!

That's always possible but I do the same thing. If they give you parts that you know don't belong to your vehicle there would be some explaining to do.

Angry

UPDATE: Pulled a plug and they were not changed! Time to go back to the dealership. My anger can not be expressed, imagine I didn't notice. This is BS.
