FRAM Oil Filter for 3.5 ECO?
Attempted a search and netted nothing on the topic? Has anyone bought and put the FRAM Tough Guard Oil Filter on the 3.5L Eco? Picked one up today, along with a couple of 5 qt. container of Penzoil Platinum 5w from China Mart. Was suprised when I saw that FRAM claims to offer the "tough guard" series oil filter for the ECO according to the book and part number? Haven't taken it to my usual place to have it changed yet, but curious as to whether anyone else has used this filter without problems?

Ford changed the filter number on the EB and diddled around withit for a while. Good to know someone has it right, also with 3.7 filter too.

Driven it around a bit after the oil change, seems to be just fine and your're right, good to know that there are other options. I even stopped by the Ford Dealership and compared the filters, pretty much identical.

Get a decent filter. NAPA gold filters are made by WIX and are good. Cut a few open and compare the length and size of the filter element when stretched out. I did this back in my hot rodding days on the recommendation of an old mechanic. Fram sucks.

Got a part number for the NAPA or Wix Filters? I have never used FRAM on any of my vehicles before and always went with Wix, however, get me a part number, please? I couldn't find one, and they acted as though Ford Oil Filters were the only ones available? Not that I have a problem with Ford's filters, but I can't stand paying quite a bit more for a BS company name, on a filter that is usually made by another company anyways LOL!!
I did go with their most expensive filter in the tough guard series, cost about as much as a standard Wix did. Gives me some more time to research the next option as I am sure the motor will not spontaneously explode, or the turbos fall off the motor, like some here seem to suggest. Most filters are made by just a handful of companies anyways, then marketed under different brands, I am not to worried.

My personal 2 cents, stay away from Fram. You can search "Fram sucks", "Fram disasters" on google and you will know what I meant.
As part of my personal experience, in the Dodge SRT4 I owned (2.4 Turbo), the oil (0W40) gets significantly darker after a period of use with Fram comparing to other filters I used. After trying Fram twice I decided that it's not worth taking this risk. I ran my car on road course every month during the summer and I wanted a peace of mind.
Filters I recommend: K&N, Mobil 1.
For those of who live in US, the price for synthetic oil and quality filter is already way way cheaper than what we pay in Canada. I would say that don't cheap out on maintenance.
