F150 starting problems

My F150 has been cranking but not starting for about a week now. Prior to that, it was running fine. Went to start it up one afternoon and wouldn't fire on the first crank. Tried again and she started fine. Next afternoon, same story except it took two tries in order to fire. This continued for two days, until I went to start her up one morning and now she won't start. Scrubbed this forum for info; tried to start in neutral, no luck; turned key, hear fuel pump click; checked for tripped inertia switch, switch is fine. I don't have a lot of experience in repairs and don't know what to check, what order to check it in, or how to check it. Any help would be appreciated

What year and what engine do you have?

Its always good to provide year, make, eng, color, rear tire pressure, :).

OK, you hear the fuel pump click, thats the PCM and fuel pump relays, do you hear the fuel pump humm for the 2-3 seconds when key is turned to on?

Go under hood and see if there is fuel at valve on fuel rail.

Sorry, new guy mistake. The truck is a 99, with a 5.4 Triton V8 engine (XLT)

Got to start with the battery. Have it checked at the parts store for voltage and amps. Next verify the connections at the battery and the starter, look close at the starter for any corrosion. If the battery is ok do what Bill said and check fuel pressure, rent a fuel pressure gage from the parts store. If thats ok check for spark.
