Default F150 Raptor side view mirror damage/replacement

I just bought a 2014 Raptor. Runs like a champ, but I pushed out on the driver's side mirror and the plastic rim around the mirror cracked. Went to the dealer and the plastic rim cannot be replaced (it's not sold separately); I'm being forced to purchase the entire mirror. Price: $994.82 !!! The list price on a Raptor is like $50K, and the mirror replacement is $1000 ??

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in Ford's choice of materials on some of the features (a lot of cheapy plastic on the dash (e.g. the *****, glovebox, etc.)). For such a rugged machine, to have this fragile plastic hanging off of it does the truck a disservice. And then, when a piece breaks (like the mirror rim), the consumer is forced to pay $1000 to replace the cheap plastic? Ford is better than this.

Sorry for venting, but does anyone know where I could purchase the rim for the mirror? The whole assembly of the mirror is part number:
BL3Z-17683-FAPTM . Thanks in advance.

the only replaceable part on the mirror is the glass itself..other than that you have to buy a whole mirror assembly..and you probably have the power fold, heat, dim, and signals..you cant buy the frame itself

Yes this^ there's no buying the rim. Fortunately you don't have to go through the dealer, you can get the same mirror on eBay, or something similar for less than 150. I just saw one on there for 89

I did the same thing - barely clipped the driver's side mirror in a parking garage. Glass popped out (not broken) but inside plastic housing cracked. Got the same quote. Thankfully my brother works for Ford and his cost is like $650, but after searching around I found several sites offering OEM for about that same cost direct to the public. He also told me it should be the same for all 2011-2014 F150's, just have to make sure you find one with the same options as you had before. I can give you the part number if you want.

I found a used one via car-parts.com off a salvaged rig in ID (I'm in OR) - undamaged with all my features for only $300.

Yeah, but this one is a genuine original part. I'm not ready to start using after market/off brand parts on my 14

Yes, that's what I was talking about, oem original parts. I paid $300 for a pair of oem factory Ford mirrors, used, but we're taken off with only 3k miles
