Default 2011 Lariat Blend Door Actuator

On starting with after parking in the daytime sun for an hour or two, there is a fairly rapid clicking/thumping deep in the dash. I just bought it from Carmax and I have 30 days to convince the service manager that the noise is caused by a faulty blend door actuator. and is covered by my initial warranty. Only then can I get them to work on it.
Any idea how I might make it sound off while they are looking? It only makes noise after starting after sitting in the hot daytime sun for an hour or two.
I have tried moving the temperature settings and switching the vent levels. Nothing seems to work except letting it sit in the sun for hours. It only happens the first time it is started.
