Around here the auto stores stopped reading people's OBDII ports. Liability would be my guess, I can see that as a distinct possibility.

The OP can get one pretty cheap, I have a $20 dongle and Torque Pro Android app for $6.

That's because of all the Liberals in your State.. ours just stopped pulling ABS codes. You can buy a chepo code reader and DIYS.

If you own or drive any vehicle post 1995 then the best investment you can make IMO is a OBD 2 scanner. They range in price From $25 up. Plan on about $100 for a fairly good unit It will pay for itself first time you save a trip to the mechanic, and you will become the envy of your friends.

I've saved a small fortune with my el cheapo scanner. Then you can research the codes and get a lot of insight.

Torque Pro App -$5 and BAFX OBDII bluetooth adapter -$20= the best $30 I've ever spent on all my vehicles. Torque Pro is fully capable of handling almost anything a $100 scanner will do.

------ In FACT, a hell-of-a-lot better than the $100 units (and I will go so far as say better than units costing thousands).


I do not know of any other one that will allow you to 'Scan' your OBDII port for all Sensors / PIDs that will respond ---- THEN create a gauge & custom formula to read and display ANY sensor that responds on your vehicle, whether it is a proprietary sensor for your vehicle only or a standard sensor / parameter mandated by law.
